Give A Little Wine Bag

Summer is here and the kids are finished school for the year. We said our goodbyes to our children’s wonderful teachers and started planning our summer wish list.

My kids want to go to places like the Calgary Zoo, Calaway Park and Heritage Park but not all of these will be possible due to Covid 19.

The kids and I started brainstorming what we can do at home or at the lake house this summer. Needless to say, swimming in the lake and playing in their bush fort was their favourites on the list.

My kids could spend hours out on the lake, in the bush and eating ice cream!

So, I have the kids summer activities and adventures planned out, now what about dates with my husband?

Normally, my amazing Mother-in-law watches our little loves but with some recent health issues with her father; it’s not something that can happen right now.

With all this in mind, we just need to get a little creative and abit more organized with our next date night. My husband is not the romantic type …. seriously! …. our engagement happened after a Valentine’s dinner at McDonalds!! – but this is a story for another time.  Honestly, I love how it all went down.

Every single one of our dates always include a bottle of wine and good food, so this is where our plan starts.

Our date night may include wine and finger foods while we watch a movie that doesn’t involve any favourite children’s movie characters.

Or, we may bring in a special dinner, dessert and wine after our little ones are in bed for the night and just have a conversation.

Depending on the weather, we may even get to eat outside and enjoy the evening air.

At the end of the day, as long as Shawn and I get to spend quality time together, that is what makes me happy the most.
