Holly Days Wreath

Oh, hey friends!

I am so excited to bring you this blog post. You may have seen my last blog post about the Merry Tree Ornaments and I had said that it wasn’t going to be the only holiday ornament pattern coming to the blog and well, it’s not.

This week, our government announced more restrictions to help combat Covid 19 and one of them is no social gatherings inside for the next 3 weeks or more.

This really saddens me that I won’t be able to spend time with my cohorts but I hope that if everyone can just hold on and do their part to lessen the spread of Covid 19, than we all may get to spend time with our cohorts for Christmas.

What are your holiday traditions?

All that being said, the realization that Christmas is going to look very different for us this year hit and it has my brain in overdrive on how to bring some of our family traditions work for just our house hold.

One of the things that my kids, nieces and nephews will miss out on is finding the Christmas pickle on the tree.

Yes, it makes us giggle and the kids think it’s so much fun to look for it! That’s how we start the gift opening on Christmas Day.

We will all just miss the togetherness this year if the restrictions can’t be lifted in time, but you know what?

While it’s less than ideal and we will miss being around the dinner table together, we can still make this a memorable, fun and hopeful season.

The making of new Traditions!

We can Facetime and call. Write letters and send in the mail with a card. Just because we may not be able to be together, we can still show our loved ones that they are loved and cared about.

I hope you all find ways to make this season special for you, your family and the people around you. Maybe this super quick, easy crochet wreath ornament can brighten your day!

Stitches you will be working with:

CH: Chain
DC: Double Crochet
SC: Single Crochet
SLST: Slip Stitch
ST: Stitches

Notes:  Written in US terms.  All CH 1 do not count as a stitch.  You can use any 4-weight yarn.  When doing the CHs for the bow, make sure you don’t make them too tight.

PATTERN : 5.00 mm hook

With green, attach yarn around your wood ring.

Row 1: CH 1, work 43 SC around your craft ring, SLST to join. (43 STS)
Row 2 : CH 1, work 3 DC in each ST around, SLST to join. (129 STS)
Row 3 : CH 20, SLST into next ST from the previous round.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Red Bow : 5.00 mm hook

CH 15, SLST last CH to the 1st CH being careful not to twist the CH.
Row 1: CH 1, SC in each CH around, SLST to join. (15 STS)
Row 2 : CH 1, SC around, SLST to join.  (15 STS)
Row 3 : CH 1, SC around, SLST to join.  (15 STS)
Fasten off leaving a long tail to finish your bow.

Taking your long tail, wrap it around the center of your bow a few times and cinch it tightly as you go. Secure the wraps on your bow with a few whip stitches. Use the remaining yarn to sew your bow to your wreath.

You can dress this up with mini ornaments or beads. There are many ways to customize this to your liking.
