Merry Tree Ornament

Hello friends!

We are almost in the middle of November and I just can’t get over how fast this month is going. Honestly, I am not sad about it one bit. I am excited for the possibilities that 2021 will offer for all of us.

Truthfully, I have started counting down the weeks to the new year with my little loves.

It’s been a difficult year for so many people and I am praying that 2021 brings so much joy, relief and stability for every person.

Are you counting down too?

My little loves are looking forward to so many things, starting with Christmas.

We are going to start decorating this weekend, maybe even watching a Christmas movie and have hot chocolate. We are excited to see the lights twinkling, sparkly ornaments, Christmas colours and even listen to a little bit of Christmas music.

They are eagerly awaiting their Elf on the Shelf to return so they can see what crazy things he gets himself into. There really is going to be a lot of fun to be had from now through December and I just can’t wait.

When do you start decorating for the holidays?

I really wanted to kick off the holiday season with the Merry Tree Ornament. It’s a super quick pattern that has endless colour possibilities.

Over the next month, I will be offering a couple different ornament patterns for you guys and I just can’t wait to see all your colour combinations and how you use them.

It truly does bring me joy when you share projects that you make with my patterns.

Thank you so much for your love and support.

PATTERN - Merry Tree Ornament

What you need:

  • 4.50 mm crochet hook (or hook to obtain gauge)
  • Any worsted weight (4) yarn. I used Bernat Premium (approx. 5 yards of each colour)
  • Craft Tree Ornament: 8.25 inch circumference
  • Measuring tape
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle
  • Stitch marker

Gauge with 4.50 mm hook:
After 2 rounds, your diameter will be 1.6 inches.

Stitches you will be working with:

CH: Chain
HDC: Half Double Crochet
HDC2TOG: Half Double Crochet Together

MC: Magic Circle
SK: Skip
SLST: Slip Stitch
ST: Stitches

V-ST: V Stitch: (HDC, CH 1, HDC) all in the same stitch

Notes:  Written in US terms.  All CH1 do not count as a stitch. You can use any 4-weight yarn. If you are having trouble matching the gauge, you may need to go up or down a hook size. If you are feeling like the body of your ornament is too tall, you may take a row of the V-ST out and just make sure you continue alternating your colours.
