Raiden Cup Cozy
Happy Friday my lovelies!!
I want to talk about mindset today and things I have learned through out my crochet journey. I truly believe that mindset is what makes or breaks your business or hobby. The first thing we need to do is just to stop comparing ourselves to other makers. This is incredibly damaging to our mindset. The negative critiquing and comparing will have you second guessing your choices and style.
We all have a unique spin on our art and that should be celebrated, we shouldn’t be trying to fit ourselves in the trendy boxes that will not only limit our creativity but also how we let our creative minds work.
It’s always a good idea to know what is trendy right now and be able to incorporate some aspects of it in your style but don’t obsess over it as things that are trendy because they are often out soon after they become the in thing.
Mindset Is Everything!
Focus on learning and growing in your own strengths and weaknesses! What makes something trendy??
Right time, right place and engaging photos. Yes, I know there is more to it than that but these things are important.
Strengthen your photography skills, lay flat and modelled photos. Look at colours that are trending for whichever season you’re in and try to incorporate some in your work.
Be engaging in your Instagram and Facebook posts by asking questions, giving something for your readers to relate to or would you rather kinds of posts. For me, I find these are the easiest and most fun ways to interact with my followers.
Whatever you decide to learn, it will only add to your already amazing skills and further your craft.
What is something you want to learn?
Another thing I find really important for my mindset is when it changed from sell, sell, sell to community over competition and how I can give back to a community who has helped me get to where I am. Yes, I am still a small fish but I don’t mind.
I’m focusing on making my content count and showing up for my people! My goal is to grow with my community through teaching, designing and showing up. I will always be open to questions and am always happy to help a fellow crocheter who needs it.
Once I made this switch in mindset, I have noticed I am steadily growing and even selling pattern downloads.
Yes! I definitely want to make sales and get super excited when I do make sales but this is not my main goal. Again, these are just a few things I found works for me.
Community over Competition …. Always!
